

2019 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 4
NEW ORLEANS – The winds of change swept through the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index between Week 3 and Week 4.
Eight of the top-10 men’s teams and eight of the top-10 women’s teams shifted spots as the postseason quickly approaches, which included a new No. 1 team in the Men’s National Rating Index and new spots for those teams ranked No. 3 through No. 10 in the Women’s National Rating Index.
Remember: The 2019 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships take place May 23-25 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

British Columbia surged three spots between Week 3 and Week 4 to take over the top spot in the Men’s National Rating Index. The Thunderbirds received five top-5 national marks this past weekend from their athletes. Kieran Lumb is now ranked first nationally in the 5000 at 13:40.51, while Max Trummer is No. 2 in the 1500, Rhys Kramer is No. 3 in the 800, Cole Dinsdale is No. 4 in the steeplechase and Kenneth Schultze is No. 5 in the 110H.
Former No. 1 Wayland Baptist dropped one spot to No. 2. The Pioneers were paced this past weekend by Tre Hinds as well as the 4×100 relay team. Hinds, who was already ranked No. 2 nationally in the 800, jumped into the 400H and posted the nation’s second fastest time in that event. WBU’s 4×100 relay team got the baton around in 40.97 for the nation’s fifth fastest time.
Indiana Tech is ranked third and added one new mark to its TFRI ledger this past weekend. Coby Bailey is now billed seventh nationally in the 100 at 10.51.
Saint Mary (Kan.) also fell one spot to No. 4, while William Carey (Miss.) re-joined the top-5 at No. 5. The Crusaders have a strong horizontal jumps unit and that was bolstered by Tre’Anterius Brooks this past weekend, who is now ranked sixth nationally in the long jump.
The rest of the top-10 includes Westmont (Calif.), Southern Oregon, Grand View (Iowa), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Doane (Neb.), in that order.

British Columbia strengthened its top billing in the Women’s National Rating Index behind four athletes who notched top-5 marks this past weekend. Mikayla Tinkham is now ranked No. 2 in the 800 and No. 4 in the 1500, while Enid Au is third in the 10,000 and Madelyn Huston is now billed fifth in the 800.
Concordia (Neb.) also experienced no shift in its ranking between Week 3 and Week 4. The Bulldogs were helped this past weekend by the performances of Jessica Deterding, Samantha Liermann and Erin Mapson. Deterding is now ranked third nationally in the heptathlon, while Liermann improved her season’s best in the shot put and Mapson soared to the No. 1 national spot in the pole vault.
Southern-New Orleans (La.) jumped two spots from No. 5 to No. 3. The Knights received two nation-leading marks from Stacey Ann Williams in the 400 and Sasha Newman in the 100H. SUNO also saw strong efforts from its 4×100 relay team (now ranked No. 2 nationally) and Kadeja Campbell (now ranked No. 3 in the 200).
Doane (Neb.) also moved up two spots since Week 3 to the No. 5 spot in the TFRI behind No. 4 Wayland Baptist (Texas). The Tigers now have three athletes ranked at the top of the Descending Order List: Kate Grint in the shot put as well as Shay Brown and Alexis Dale, who are tied atop the nation in the high jump.
The rest of the top-10 includes Indiana Tech, MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), Hastings (Neb.), William Carey (Miss.) and Oregon Tech, in that order.
