2021 NCAA DII Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3

NEW ORLEANS – Three teams remained steady among a long list of changes seen in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index, which was released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday afternoon.

West Texas A&M continued to sit at the top of the National TFRI for a second consecutive week. Florence Uwajeneza clocked the No. 1 time in the 10,000 of 34:24.70, which pairs nicely with her No. 4 ranking in the 5000 (16:29.50). In the throws, Zada Swoopes continued her dominance and posted season best efforts in the shot put (No. 1, 17.45m/57-3) and discus (No. 2, 56.10m/184-1). The Lady Buffaloes’ 4×400 also clocked a season-best effort of 3:47.52c (3:47.08A) to move up to No. 5.

Azusa Pacific and Grand Valley State traded places from a week ago, as the Cougars moved up to No. 2 and sent the Lakers back one spot to No. 3. The Cougars received its biggest boost in the heptathlon after having the trio of Meagan Warwick (No. 4, 5321), Jordan Hammond (No. 5, 5108) and Nicole Warwick (No. 6, 5080) post three of the top-6 scores in the nation this season.

For the Lakers, Kayce Rupma ran 10:52.15 in the steeplechase for the No. 4 time on the Descending Order List.

Rounding out the top-5 is No. 4 Missouri Southern and No. 5 CSU Pueblo. Both teams held their respective positions from last week’s National TFRI. Of the two teams, Lions were in action this past weekend and paced by Jasmine Deckard‘s performance in the 100 (No. 4, 11.65w), which pairs nicely with her No. 3 ranking in the 200 (23.80w). Kirstin Leisinger also improved her placement in the discus (No. 5, 50.05m/164-3) to go with her No. 5 hammer throw (56.24m/184-6).

Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 3: No. 6 Central Missouri, No. 7 Queens (N.C.), No. 8 Angelo State, No. 9 Texas A&M-Commerce and No. 10 Minnesota State.

The biggest move in the National TFRI belongs to No. 15 Saginaw Valley State. The Cardinals soared 62 spots for the program’s first appearance in the National TFRI during the outdoor season. Cheyenne Williamson headlined the Cardinals’ squad with her national leading point total in the heptathlon (5517). She also hit the No. 5 mark in the long jump (6.11m/20-½) during the heptathlon competition. Another top performer for the Cardinals is Lauren Huebner, as she clocked the No. 3 time in the 400H (59.63).

The 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for May 27-29 in Allendale, Michigan, hosted by Grand Valley State.
