2023 NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 1
NEW ORLEANS – This train isn’t stopping!
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll for the 2023 season, as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). There wasn’t much movement in the ranks this week, but you can be assured that we’ll see a lot more coming up as teams gear up to make a steady run toward #NCAAXC23, because that’s when they’ll #RunPanorama in just a few months.
Remember that this poll is conducted by counting votes from 11 member coaches – one from each of the division’s nine regions (who also do the regional rankings) – as well as two members from the NCAA Cross Country Executive Committee.

Cross Country Polls & Rankings
The top-5 held intact from the preseason: Northern Arizona is still No. 1 with nine first-place votes, followed by No. 2 Oklahoma State (one first-place vote), No. 3 BYU (one first-place vote), No. 4 Stanford and No. 5 Wisconsin. Three of those top-5 programs will compete at the Virginia Invitational this weekend and preview the NCAA Championships course: the top-ranked Lumberjacks, the third-ranked Cougars and the fourth-ranked Cardinal.
Good things come in threes, especially since three other top-10 programs will be in Virginia this weekend, too: No. 6 North Carolina, No. 7 Colorado and the host No. 10 Virginia.
SEC rivals Ole Miss and Tennessee made the most notable jumps this week. The Volunteers improved one spot into a tie with Oregon at No. 15 following a strong debut at the Furman XC Invitational where they won by 25 points. The Rebels rolled to the team title at The Southern Showcase in Huntsville and soared from the Land of Receiving Votes to No. 23.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 18, because that’s when the 2023 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships will be held at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Virginia!
