Washington (Mo.) has been busy at work so far in 2024. The Bears, who are ranked No. 1 to begin the season, posted 11 national top-10 marks thus far, including a division-leading effort in the 800 meters from Emma Kelley at 2:05.34. Kelley is also rated highly – third – in the 400 meters at 56.82. WashU sports three second-ranked marks: Jenae Bothe in the shot put at 14.24m (46-8¾); Yasmin Ruff in the pole vault at 3.90m (12-9½); and the 4×400 relay at 3:53.42, anchored by none other than Kelley.
Loras has been a mainstay in the top-5 of the National TFRI for a while and it’s easy to see why. The Duhawks, who are ranked second in Week 1, hold nine national top-10 marks with a trio of division leaders: Grace Alley in both the pentathlon (3986 points) and high jump (1.74m/5-8½); Emma Seipel in the long jump at 6.08m (19-11½). Four other marks are in the top-5.
Johns Hopkins lives by the motto, “Quality, not quantity.” The third-ranked Blue Jays collected five national top-10 marks in their nest, headlined by a pair of division leaders: Victoria Kadiri in the triple jump at 12.86m (42-2¼) and the distance medley relay at 12:22.25.
MIT found a spot at No. 4 in Week 1. The Engineers own six national top-10 marks, including two by junior thrower Alexis Boykin in the weight throw (No. 1, 18.97m/62-3) and shot put (No. 4, 13.93m/45-8½). Three of those top-10 marks were turned in by its distance runners.
SUNY Geneseo is ranked fifth in Week 1 thanks to six national top-10 marks. Three of those performances reside in the national top-5: Rachel Hirschkind in the 5000 meters (No. 3, 16:39.73); the distance medley relay (No. 3, 12:30.50); and Ally Alvira in the triple jump (No. 4, 11.99m (39-4).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 1: No. 6 UChicago, No. 7 UW-Oshkosh, No. 8 Wartburg, No. 9 Mount Union and No. 10 Williams.
Mark your calendars for March 8-9, because that’s when the 2024 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia!
