All TFRI Reports
It’s business as usual at the top with UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Eau Claire ranked first, second and third, respectively, for the sixth consecutive week. The Eagles have a gender-high 31 entries to the upcoming NCAA Championships, while the Titans are a distant second with 22 and the Blugolds sit right above fourth-ranked MIT with 12.
Defending national champion UW-La Crosse will have multiple entries in five different events in Virginia Beach, Virginia: 3000 meters (five), 200 meters (four), mile (four), 5000 meters (four) and 60 meters (two). Should the Eagles get big points from the likes of Sam Blaskowski, Ethan Gregg and Luke Schroeder, they’ll be well on their way to a 20th national title in program history.
UW-Oshkosh seeks its first national title since 2009 when it shared honors with UW-La Crosse. The Titans are stacked across the board with five entries in the heptathlon, four entries in the 60, three each in the high jump and long jump, as well as two in the 200 meters. Joshua Rivers leads the way for UW-Oshkosh as the national leader in the long jump.
UW-Eau Claire last won a national title in 2022 when it tied Washington (Mo.) in a thrilling battle. The Blugolds expect big things from their field athletes, especially in the heptathlon and shot put where they have multiple strong entries. UW-Eau Claire has two of the top-3 throwers in the shot put with Yakob Ekoue and Adam Strouf, plus the national leader in the heptathlon in the guise of Mitch Stegeman.
MIT is a clear fourth with its 11 entries, while fifth-ranked Bethel (Minn.), sixth-ranked UW-Whitewater, seventh-ranked Loras, eighth-ranked Rowan and ninth-ranked Central (Iowa) are all separated by just ten rankings points going into the Championships. Carthage, with two-event national leader Joseph White in the shot put and weight throw, sits tenth.
Get ready for the 2024 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships, which are THIS WEEKEND at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
