2024 NCAA DII Outdoor T&F Championships High Point Award

NEW ORLEANS – High Point Athletes of the Meet from the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

William Amponsah of West Texas A&M earned the honor on the men’s side, while Denisha Cartwright of Minnesota State took home recognition on the women’s side.

Amponsah scored 18 points in Emporia, Kansas. The West Texas A&M standout won the 10,000 meters in 29:00.47 on Day 1 and then returned on Day 3 to finish runner-up in the 5000 meters to Romain Legendre of Adams State. Amponsah’s victory in the 10,000 meters was dominant, as he won by more than 24 seconds.

Cartwright did it all once again at the NCAA Championships, scoring 28.25 points for the Mavericks. The Minnesota State standout won both the 100-meter hurdles and the 200 meters, while finishing runner-up in the 100 meters and toting the baton on the eighth-place 4×100 relay. Most notably, Cartwright clocked a blistering, albeit wind-aided, 12.37 (+4.2) winner in the 100H, which is an all-conditions world leader and moved her up to No. 4 on the all-time, all-conditions collegiate chart.
