2024 NJCAA DIII Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 6

NEW ORLEANS – There were no changes in the top-5 of the Week 6 edition of the 2024 NJCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Track & Field Rating Index, which was released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Only marks from the 2024 outdoor track & field season have been used in this objective compilation. This is final national TFRI of the year as the 2024 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships run next Thursday-Saturday at Mohawk Valley (N.Y.) CC in Utica, New York.

Three-time defending champion College of DuPage (Ill.) is No. 1 for the third week in a row. The Chaps have eight national-leading marks with Kevin Diederich claiming a pair in the 5000 (15:24.90) and 10,000 (32:13.45). Also leading the country are Weston White in the 100 (10.57), Noah Mack in the 200 (21.59), Graham McAnnich in the 400 hurdles (55.10) and Ronan Cornelius in the high jump (1.98m/6-6), as well as the 4×100 (41.13) and 4×400 (3:19.66) relay teams. Mack won the 100 and 200 double last year. DuPage has won this meet a total of seven times including titles in 2002, ’03, ’06 and ’10.

No. 2 Mineral Area (Mo.) will be seeking its first-ever NJCAA Division III team crown in track & field after having finished second the last two years. The Cardinals have six national-leading marks. Trenton Braswell leads all four throwing events – the shot put at 15.12m (49-7¼), discus at 47.81m (156-10), hammer at 51.74m (169-9) and javelin at 55.61m (182-6); he score in all four events last year, topped by a runner-up finish in the discus. Mineral Area’s other two leading marks come from current M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week Bradley Ahrens, who is fastest in the 800 (1:54.78c) and 1500 (3:57.45); he won the 1500 last year and was runner-up in the 800. The Cardinals’ Sie’ntez Lerma, defending champ in the 400, is rated No. 2 this in the 200 and 400.

Harper (Ill.) is No. 3 and has one national-leading mark, courtesy of Esad Sengun in the pole vault at 4.40m (14-5¼). The Hawks will be looking to match or better their third-place finish from 2019; they were second in 2015 and have won the team crown five times (2007-09 and 2011-12).

No. 4 Joliet (Ill.) JC was ninth last year in the program’s first year since 1981. The Wolves have a national leader in steeplechaser Andrew Ciarlette at 10:08.94, and Ozzie Gamboa rates No. 2 in the both the shot and discus.

No. 5 Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC) was fifth last year and won this meet in 2016. The Sharks’ Tariq Earl is rated No. 2 in 110 hurdles, an event he won last year.

Completing the top-10 teams in the National TFRI are No. 6 Mohawk Valley (N.Y.) CC, No. 7 Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC, No. 8 Thaddeus Stevens (Pa.), No. 9 RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.) and No. 10 Queensborough (N.Y.) CC.
