2024 NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 1
NEW ORLEANS – If they’re racing, they’re ranking.
Sometimes there aren’t many changes in the top-10 of the NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll, like as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) but the same can’t be said for the rest of the top-30.

The only change among the top-10 teams in Week 1 was North Carolina leapfrogging Notre Dame into the No. 6 spot. The Har Heels opened their season with a head-to-head tiebreaker victory over previous No. 23 Virginia at the Virginia Invitational. Ethan Strand gave UNC the ultimate low stick with his 23:49.8 winner. And speaking of the Cavaliers, they soared eight spots to No. 15 after going toe-to-toe with the Tar Heels this past weekend.
Syracuse improved three spots from No. 22 to No. 19 after a dominating effort at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational hosted by Penn State. The Orange put four runners in the top-8 to easily dispatch Georgetown by 39 points, 31-70.
Texas Tech is knocking on the door of the top-30. The Red Raiders, with an influx of new talent, impressed with a runner-up finish to No. 8 New Mexico at the Lori Fitzgerald Classic in August and then posted a decisive victory at their own invitational two weeks later.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 23, because that’s when the 2024 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships will be held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
