Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Fans of the top-5 teams from Week 1 need not worry, because none of them lost their footing in Week 2: No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 BYU, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 4 Northern Arizona and No. 5 Iowa State still make up the presumptive podium favorites come November 23. Four of them – the Cowboys, the Cougars, the Razorbacks, and the Lumberjacks – all looked dominant in victory this past weekend, averaging just 26 points and posting an average margin of victory of 61 points. BYU, which took a first-place vote from Oklahoma State, arguably turned in the most impressive victory over the weekend at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational where it amassed just 44 points for the third smallest winning total in meet history and beat the fifth-ranked Cyclones handily.
Five teams jumped four or more spots between Week 1 and Week 2: Stanford went from No. 10 to t-No. 6 after decimating a surprisingly deep field at the Gans Creek Classic; Wake Forest went from No. 20 to t-No. 6 following an eye-opening third-place finish in Wisconsin; Washington, Michigan and Colorado finished fifth, sixth and eighth in Wisconsin and climbed from No. 27 to No. 13, No. 26 to No. 15 and No. 21 to No. 17, respectively.
Four teams either debut in the top-30 in Week 2 or rejoin the index: Georgetown at No. 25, Florida State and No. 26, California Baptist at No. 29 and Michigan State at No. 30.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 23, because that’s when the 2024 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships will be held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
