Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Iowa Western CC continues as a unanimous No. 1. The Reivers’ latest showing featured yet another overall 1-2 by Geforey Ronoh and Barnabas Ndiwa at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open, where they were the top JUCO squad. That duo has been 1-2 overall – in some order – in all three of the Reivers’ meets this season with Ronoh holding a 2-1 head-to-head advantage. This contest provided their closest finish yet as only 0.1 seconds separated them (their other differentials have been 0.3 and 2.7 seconds).
Hutchinson (Kan.) CC continues at No. 2, even gaining two points in the poll. The Blue Dragons’ top-2 of Cornelius Kogo and Titus Kiprotich were 3-4 at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open, just seven points behind Iowa Western among NJCAA teams.
Moving back up to No. 3 is New Mexico JC, which won the ENMU Ruidoso Classic and their own Thunderbird Open, the former with a perfect score of 15 points as Mohammed Mrahi took individual honors by 18.0 seconds.
Also rising is Butler (Kan.) CC, up two spots to No. 4. The Grizzlies won the DBU Old Glory Gallop, led by 3-4 finish of Emmanuel Otim and Sfiso Makolomaka. Otim is the top returner from last year’s nationals, having finished third.
Iowa Central CC dropped to No. 5. The Tritons were the top NJCAA team in the McDonnell Memorial race at the Chile Pepper Festival, with Chakib Cherkaoui Rhazouani earning M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week honors as the leading JUCO runner in a field loaded with four-year programs.
Completing the top-10 are No. 6 Central Arizona, No. 7 Crowder (Mo.), No. 8 Snow (Utah), No. 9 Garden City (Kan.) CC and No. 10 Colby (Kan.) CC.
