Weaver, who hails from Lewiston, Minnesota, was named the National Men’s Field Athlete of the Year. He starred at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, becoming the only man in meet history to win both the decathlon and javelin in the same year. It was in the decathlon where he put up 7510 points for the third-best total in NCAA DIII history. Then, Weaver doubled back to win the javelin on his final throw of the evening, a 67.68m (222-1) heave that was the longest throw of the season at the NCAA DIII level. Earlier in the season, Weaver amassed 7213 points in the decathlon for another all-time top-10 effort.
