Hilda Chebet was named the National Women’s Track Athlete of the Year for the 2022 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season. Chebet, who hails from Trans-Nzoia, Kenya, starred at the NJCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas, scoring 30 points thanks to victories in the 1500 meters, 5000 meters and 10,000 meters. During the regular season, Chebet became the second-fastest performer in NJCAA history in the 5000 meters, barely missing the NJCAA record with her time of 16:07.40 at the Drake Relays.
