Kyle Rutledge, Pittsburg State: 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Coach of the Year

Kyle Rutledge was named the National Men’s Coach of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season. Rutledge, in his 10th year at Pittsburg State and first as head coach, led the Gorillas to their first national title in program history at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships with 70 points. Under Rutledge’s direction, the Gorillas had national champions in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400 meters, while 13 different athletes earned First-Team All-America honors. Pittsburg State also won the team title at the MIAA Outdoor Championships with 169 points and posted 14 All-MIAA finishes. Rutledge’s athletes broke seven school records during the outdoor season.
