A 1995 graduate of SUNY Cortland, Michelle LaFleur was a five-time individual NCAA champion, a five-time team NCAA champion (four in cross country and one in indoor track and field) and a 14-time All-American. Individually, LaFleur won NCAA titles in cross country (1994), the outdoor 3000m (1991), indoor 1500m (1994 and 1995), and outdoor 5000m. She holds the school and SUNYAC record in the 4x800m relay and also holds the school record in the outdoor 1500m (4:28.4), a record held since 1991. Following her graduation, LaFleur ran professionally and competed in three U.S. Olympic Marathon trials (2000, 2004, 2008) as well as multiple world championships in the half marathon and 10,000m.
