Ryan Chapman, Wartburg: 2021 NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Assistant Coach of the Year

Chapman, in his fifth year at Wartburg, was named the National Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year. His mid-distance/distance athletes played a big role in helping the Knights win their first outdoor team title in program history. Out of the Knights’ 54 points at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Chapman’s athletes scored 22. Eight of those points came from a runner-up effort in the steeplechase and seven of them resulted in a 5-6 finish in the 5000, which gave Wartburg necessary breathing room going into the 4×400 relay. During the regular season, the Knights were ranked in the top-10 of every distance event.
