Adams State Named 2008 USTFCCCA Women’s Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year
NEW ORLEANS – Just like their male counterparts, the Adams State women have been named the 2008 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA Women’s Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.
The Grizzlies, the 2008 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Champions, were also the 2007 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA Women’s Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year. The ASC women maintain a 3.410 cumulative team grade point average.
In addition to the NCAA Division II National Championship, the Grizzlies won their second straight Central Regional title, and their seventh straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) title.
Adams State is joined by 98 other Division II women’s cross country programs on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team list. Seattle Pacific University had the highest overall team grade point average; 3.737. Nine of the top ten teams, and 15 of the top 20 teams at the national meet made the All-Academic team list.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference each had 11 conference schools on the USTFCCCA All-Academic team list. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference was close behind with ten conference schools on the All-Academic team list.
Adams State was named the NCAA Division II USTFCCCA Men’s Cross Country All-Academic Team of the Year.
