Looking At The All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate Lists
A bevy of outstanding performances at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field – as well as the Jamaican National Championships, among others – ushered in a new phrase for many who follow us on social media – All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate Bests, which are part of the All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate List (By the way, if you’re not following us on social media, what are you doing!?)
From The USTFCCCA InfoZone: Records & Lists
Marks from both collegiate seasons and outside the collegiate season can be found on the All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate List. The only requirements for marks outside of the collegiate season is that the athlete must have competed collegiately at some point during the year and had potential eligibility during the season in question, which allows those seniors who have graduated and those underclassmen who decided to sign professional contacts and forgo the rest of their collegiate eligibility to still be considered. However, once the next collegiate track & field cycle starts in December, those seniors and professionals aren’t eligible to have their marks included any longer.
This is why you’ll see two new All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate Bests on the charts below from the recently completed U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field: Anavia Battle’s blistering time of 21.95 in the 200 meters, which secured her spot on Team USA for the upcoming Olympics and made her the first female collegian to turn in a wind-legal sub-22 effort in that event; and Athing Mu’s otherworldly 1:56.07 winner in the final of the 800 meters, which lowered her PR by nearly two seconds and made her the second-fastest woman in U.S. history.
Mu is now one of four women who hold multiple All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate Bests (The former Texas A&M standout also tops the chart in the 400 meters with her collegiate record of 49.57): Jenny Barringer (now Simpson) is No. 1 in both the 1500 (3:59.90 CR) and steeplechase (9:12.50); Lisa Koll is No. 1 in both the 5000 (14:55.74) and 10,000 (31:18.07 CR); Jackie Joyner is No. 1 in both the long jump (7.24m/23-9) and heptathlon (6718 points).
No men own No. 1 marks in two events, but 11 are current collegiate record holders.
