Men’s Story

Harper (Ill.) has already started off strong this season, finishing third at the Aurora Invite on Sept. 8 and second at the Lake Forest Invite this past weekend. Sean Sanaghan paced the Hawks across both meets.

Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC was the national runner-up a year ago, and they hope to knock the Hawks off their throne at some point this season. Coming in at second in the initial rankings is a good place to start, and that ranking can be attributed to a solid start to the season by Johnathan Gonzalez, who placed 20th at the Queensborough CC XC Invitational.

Rowan-Gloucester (N.J.) CC, Onondaga (N.Y.) CC and Middlesex County (N.J.) all found themselves in the top-five of the initial rankings of the season, as well.

Women’s Story

Like their male counterparts, the Hawks from Harper (Ill.) have shot out of the gates, finishing second last weekend at the Lake Forest Invite and fourth at the Aurora Invite in early September. Misbah Baig has made a splash in her rookie year, leading the way in both races on the season.

Following the Hawks in the women’s rankings is FIT (N.Y.), who finished 10th at the national championships a year ago. The

Rounding out the top-five on the week are Kingsborough (N.Y.) CC, Herkimer County (N.Y.) CC and Westmoreland County (Pa.) CC.
