2017 NJCAA DIII Cross Country National Coaches’ Ranking — Week 3
NEW ORLEANS –Some things in life are guaranteed. You can add Harper (Ill.) leading the men’s and women’s NJCAA Division III National Rankings week in and week out to that list.
The newest batch of NJCAA Division III National Rankings were released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday, and the Hawks are up to their old tricks. Both the men and women posted strong showings at the Eagle Invitational and Bradley Pink Classic over the last few weeks, allowing them to hold onto the top spots in the rankings.
However, pieces shuffled underneath the Hawks this week.

Men’s Story
Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC returned to second in the men’s rankings, jumping two spots from fourth. The Sharks had an outstanding showing at the St. Joseph’s Invitational, where the team finished second only to NCAA Division I Fordham. Kingsborough CC, who came in at third on the week, finished right behind the Sharks in Kings Park, New York thanks to a second-place finish from Humberto Wallace.
Raritan Valley (N.J.) CC made program history this week, as it jumped into fourth for its first-ever national ranking after a solid outing at the Jersey Blues XC Invitational.
Onondaga CC rounded out the top-five on the week after a one-spot jump to fifth coming on the heels of a fifth-place outing at the Hamilton Invitational on Oct. 7.
Women’s Story
Mercer County CC moved up three spots to second in the women’s rankings, giving the program its best ranking in history. The Vikings won the Jersey Blues Invitational with a near-perfect score of 18, thanks to Hayley Baydar, Laura Gould, Claudia Baydar and Olivia Reiss finishing 1-2-3-4.
After falling to ninth in the last polls, FIT moved back up in the rankings to third, finishing seventh at the St. Joseph’s Invitational.
Kingsborough CC and Herkimer County CC rounded out the top-five on the week, but both programs did slip two spots each in the rankings.
