

2019 NCAA DIII Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 7
NEW ORLEANS – Conference Championships Weekend didn’t shake up the NCAA Division III Cross Country Regional Rankings too much this season, because favorites handled business and left no doubt as to where they stand among the rest in the region.

We did see some movement as there were two new No. 1 teams based off performances at the SCIAC Championships.
Remember: We’ll see which teams earn automatic bids to the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships next weekend when each of the nine regions holds their respective championships across the nation.
Men’s Story
Atlantic Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Atlantic Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
SUNY Geneseo and RPI are still No. 1 and No. 2 after capturing conference titles in the SUNYAC and the Liberty League, respectively.
St. Lawrence held steady at No. 3, while SUNY Oneonta jumped four spots from No. 8 to No. 4 after finishing runner-up to SUNY Geneseo in the SUNYAC. Ithaca dropped one spot from No. 4 to No. 5 to correspond with SUNY Oneonta’s rise.
Central Region
There were some notable changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Central Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Wartburg remained No. 1 for the eighth week in a row after handling business at the American Rivers Conference Championships. The Knights showed good depth and scored 19 points.
Carleton climbed two spots from No. 4 to No. 2 after winning the MIAC title. The Knights beat regional foe and new No. 4 St. Olaf head to head for the title.
St. Thomas (Minn.) held steady at No. 3, while Luther continued its season at No. 5.
Great Lakes Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Great Lakes Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Calvin and Otterbein are still ranked No. 1 and No. 2 after winning conference titles this past weekend in the MIAA and the OAC, respectively. The Knights went for a perfect score, while the Cardinals finished with 41 points, three fewer than No. 3 John Carroll.
Case Western Reserve held steady at No. 4 and Mount Union comes in at No. 5.
Mideast Region
There weren’t any changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Mideast Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins are still No. 1 and No. 2 after winning their respective conference titles this past weekend. The Tartans reigned in the UAA, while the Blue Jays posted a perfect score in the Centennial Conference.
Haverford, Dickinson and Elizabethtown remained No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Midwest Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Midwest Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
North Central (Ill.) and Washington (Mo.) remained No. 1 and No. 2 following strong efforts at their respective conference championships. The Cardinals swept the proceedings once again at the CCIW, while the Bears finished second in the UAA.
UChicago finished third in the UAA and sits third, while WIAC champion UW-La Crosse comes in fourth and WIAC runner-up UW-Stout is ranked fifth.
New England Region
There were a few changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the New England Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Williams and MIT are still No. 1 and No. 2 after winning their respective conference titles this past weekend. The Ephs cruised in the NESCAC, while the Engineers won the NEWMAC.
The next three teams finished in order behind Williams at the NESCAC Championships: No. 3 Amherst, No. 4 Middlebury and No. 5 Colby.
South/Southeast Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the South/Southeast Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Berea (Ky.) and Emory are still No. 1 and No. 2 following Conference Championships Weekend. The Mountaineers notched a perfect score at the USA South meet, while the Eagles didn’t run well at the UAA meet, but hold a head-to-head victory over No. 3 Washington and Lee from the Pre-National Invitational.
No. 4 Lynchburg finished runner-up to W&L at the ODAC Championships and Centre earned the conference title in the SAA with arguably its best race of the season.
West Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the West Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps goes to No. 1 by virtue of beating former No. 1 – now No. 2 – Pomona-Pitzer for the conference title in the SCIAC. It was such a close race that they had to use the tiebreaker to figure out who won (Hint: It was the Stags).
UC Santa Cruz remained at No. 3, while Colorado College and Redlands rounded out the top-5 at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Women’s Story
Atlantic Region
There were some slight changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Atlantic Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
SUNY Geneseo and RPI are still No. 1 and No. 2 after winning conference titles at their respective conference championships. The Knights took first at the SUNYAC Championships, while the Engineers won the Liberty League title by 22 points.
Rochester (N.Y.) climbed one spot to No. 3, while Ithaca jumped four spots to No. 4 after a runner-up effort at the Liberty League Championships. Vassar settled in at No. 5.
Central Region
There were a few slight changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Central Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
A pair of conference champions sits No. 1 and No. 2: Carleton remained No. 1 after winning the MIAC, while Wartburg comes in at No. 2 after winning the American Rivers Conference.
Three teams who finished behind Carleton in the MIAC standings settled in that same order at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5: St. Thomas (Minn.), St. Olaf and Gustavus Adolphus.
Great Lakes Region
There was one notable change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Great Lakes Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
The top-4 teams remained the same as they all handled business at their respective conference championships: No. 1 Oberlin, No. 2 John Carroll, No. 3 Baldwin Wallace and No. 4 Hope.
But then you have Kenyon, which soared from the Land of the Not Ranked to No. 5 after finishing runner-up at the NCAC Championships.
Mideast Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Mideast Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Johns Hopkins and Dickinson remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, after finishing that way at the Centennial Conference Championships this past weekend.
Carnegie Mellon held steady at No. 3, while Messiah ascended from No. 6 to No. 4 after winning the MAC title over a field packed with regional foes. Swarthmore dropped one spot from No. 4 to No. 5 following a third-place effort at the Centennial meet.
Midwest Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Midwest Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Washington (Mo.) and UChicago remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, after finishing in that order at the UAA Championships this past weekend.
UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse held steady at No. 3 and No. 4 after battling over the 6K distance at the WIAC Championships. The conference title eventually went to the Blugolds.
Wheaton (Ill.) moved into the No. 5 spot this week after winning the team title at the CCIW Championships with 47 points.
New England Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the New England Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
MIT and Williams remained No. 1 and No. 2 following their victories at their respective conference championships this past weekend. The Engineers rolled at the NEWMAC Championships, while the Ephs handled business on their home course in the NESCAC.
The next three teams finished in order at the NESCAC Championships: No. 3 Tufts, No. 4 Bates and No. 5 Middlebury.
South/Southeast Region
There were a few notable changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the South/Southeast Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Washington and Lee remained No. 1 following a dominant win at the ODAC Championships. The Generals had all of their top-7 runners in the top-14 and won with 20 points.
Emory moved up to No. 2, swapping spots with Centre. The Eagles finished fifth at the UAA Championships, just eight points behind nationally-ranked Carnegie Mellon.
Lynchburg and Shenandoah rocketed up the rankings following their great effort at the ODAC Championships. The former is now ranked No. 4, while the latter comes in at No. 5.
West Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the West Region between Week 6 and Week 7.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took over the No. 1 spot following a dominant win at the SCIAC Championships. The Athenas toppled former No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer as they put all seven of their runners in the top-15 on their way to a 37-64 victory.
UC-Santa Cruz and Occidental held steady at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Whitman rounds out the top-5 at No. 5 after a one-spot jump from the previous week.
