2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field All-America
NEW ORLEANS – All-America honors for the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2023 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, earned All-America distinction.
UW-La Crosse swept the team titles following several thrilling days of competition inside the Birmingham CrossPlex. Both teams had their hands full on the final day of the meet: the men held on for a 0.5-point victory over SUNY Geneseo; the women held off a strong challenge from Washington (Mo.) and needed at least a fifth-place finish in the 4×400 relay to clinch the title.
You’d expect UW-La Crosse to dominate the All-America list, tight? Well, that would be true on the women’s side, as the Eagles amassed 18 plaudits – the most in the division, regardless of gender. UW-La Crosse did more with less on the men’s side: the Eagles only snagged five All-America honors, but four of those were thanks to the combined efforts of Sam Blaskowski and Ethan Gregg, who combined for 34 points (Blaskowski won the 60 meters and finished runner-up in the 200 meters; Gregg won the 3000 meters and was third in the 5000 meters).
Six other programs hauled in double-digit honors: third-place SUNY Geneseo (12), third-place Loras (12) and sixth-place John Carroll (12) on the men’s side; runner-up WashU (15), third-place Loras (12) and fifth-place Mount Union (10) for the women.
