

2023 NCAA DII Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3
NEW ORLEANS – Here is Week 3 of the NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National TFRI, as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Only marks from the current season are being used, which gives an objective look at those teams who are looking to contend as we head into the beginning of this outdoor season.

West Texas A&M continues its rapid ascent and takes the top spot in Week 3 of the TFRI. The Buffs feature a nation-leading 4×100 relay (38.92), and a No. 3 4×400 (3:09.68). They added seven additional top-5 individual performances, including Isaac Botsio, No. 2 in the 100 meters (10.09c), and Quinton Sansing, No. 2 in the 400 meters (46.01c). Joseph Manu, a leg on their 4×100, adds a national No. 3 performance in the 100 meters (10.11c) and a No. 8 performance (20.87c). Four other Buffs are in national No. 4 positions: Jeremiah Lauzon in the 200 (20.69c); Butare Rugenerwa in the 800 (1:49.41); Hamdi Ali in the high jump (2.13mA/6-11¾); and Gerard Bryant (6904A).
Pittsburg State holds steady into Week 3, maintaining the No. 2 spot on the TFRI. They feature a pair of national leaders in Cordell Tinch’s 110-meter hurdles effort (13.33w) and Henry Kiner in the triple jump (16.41mw/53-10¼). The Gorillas added a pair of top relays, a No. 2 4×100 team (39.76), and a No. 3 4×400 team (3:09.68). Four other individuals are in the top-5 of the nation, including Daylin Williams in the 110H (13.77w), Treyvon Ferguson in the triple jump (15.48mw/50-9½), Konner Swenson in the hammer throw (61.45m/201-7), and Caleb Calvin in javelin (73.02m/239-7).
Grand Valley State drops two spots to No. 3 in Week 3 of the TFRI. The Lakers have three top-ranked individuals: Caleb Futter, the top ranked steeplechaser in DII (8:42.20); Eli Kosiba, the top ranked high jumper (2.20m/7-2½); and Myles Kerner, the top ranked shot putter (19.59m/64-3¼). Three others add top-5 performances for GVSU, including No. 3 Jonathan Rakins James in the high jump (2.15m/7-0½), No. 3 Matt Thomas in the shot put (18.59m/61-0), and No. 2 in the hammer throw Jacob Urban (65.76m/215-9).
Angelo State jumps five spots this week to the No. 4 position on the TFRI. They own a pair of national leading performances, highlighted by a number 2 all-time DII 800-meter effort for Oussama El Bouchayby (1:45.31). El Bouchayby added a No. 5 placement this weekend in the 1500 meters (3:45.21). Elvis Kryukov is the second national leader for the Rams, holding a 7296-point performance in the decathlon. Three other athletes have top-5 efforts: No. 2 Kyle Lumpkins in the decathlon (7197); No. 2 Devoux Deysel in javelin (74.37m/244-0); and No. 3 Cason Brown in discus (54.21mA/177-10).
Cal Poly Pomona rose one spot to the No. 5 position this week in the TFRI. They feature one national leader, pole vaulter Matteo Madrassi (5.36m/17-7). Ryan Fields is the only other individual with a top-5 mark, holding the No. 2 position in the 400 hurdles (50.76), in addition to the No. 9 spot in the 400 meters (47.27) and the No. 6 spot in the 110 hurdles (13.96w). The Broncos also add a pair of top-10 relays: a No. 7 4×400 relay (3:11.74) and a No. 9 4×100 team (40.31).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in the Week 3 TFRI: No. 6 Missouri Southern, No 7. Texas A&M-Kingsville, No. 8 Azusa Pacific, No. 9 UC-Colorado Springs and No. 10 Carson-Newman.
Teams and individuals are continuing to push towards the postseason, as the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado from May 25-27 looms.
