

2023 NCAA DII Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 7
NEW ORLEANS – Here is Week 7 of the NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National TFRI, as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Only marks from the current season are being used, which gives an objective look at those teams who are looking to contend as we head into the beginning of this outdoor season.

Pittsburg State remains firmly in control as we move into the postseason. Cordell Tinch’s remarkable 110-meter hurdle performance (12.97w) further cements his national lead, and he adds another wind-aided national lead in the long jump (8.24mw/27-0½), as well as a No. 2 high jump (2.18m/7-1¾), all performances from this weekend. Henry Kiner holds the last national lead for the Gorillas in the triple jump, a 16.41mw (53-10¼) mark to go with his No. 4 long jump (7.82m/25-8). Four other Gorillas hold marks in the top-5 of the division, and they add a No. 3 4×100 as well (39.76).
West Texas A&M holds steady at No. 2 in Week 7. The Buffs feature a nation-leading 4×100 relay (38.92), and a newly minted No. 3 4×400 relay (3:08.47) that shaved over a second off their previous season’s best. They own an incredibly deep sprint squad, with two top-5 performances each in the 100 meter and 200 meter and a No. 2 performance from Quinton Sansing in the 400 meters (45.92). Hamdi Ali added a season’s best high jump this week, good for No. 6 in the division (2.17m/7-1½).
Adams State jumps two spots from No. 5 to No. 3. The Grizzlies feature a pair of national leaders: Miguel Coca in the 1500 meters (3:40.96c) and Cameron Allan in the 10,000 meters (28:37.09). Coca also holds the No. 3 position in the 5000 meters (13:36.51) and is joined among the top echelons of that event by No. 5 Cameron Allan (13:50.17). Papay Glaywulu rounds out the members of the top-5 for Adams State with a No. 3 mark of 15.89mw (52-1¾) in the triple jump. Steeplechase No. 7 Clement Duigou ran an 8:53.62 time at the Oregon Twilight meet this weekend at Hayward Field.
Grand Valley State drops to No. 4 in this week’s rankings. The Lakers have a pair of top ranked athletes this week: Eli Kosiba in the high jump (2.25m/7-4½) and Myles Kerner in the shot put (19.85m/65-1¾). They added a pair of No. 2 marks in Caleb Futter’s 8:42.20 mark in the steeplechase and Jacob Urban’s 65.76m (215-9) mark in the hammer throw. Four other Lakers have top-10 marks, including a pair of 400-meter hurdlers in No. 6 Fallou Gaye (50.95) and No. 7 Jackson Blanchard (51.02).
Colorado School of Mines fell one spot to No. 5 in the Week 7 TFRI. They’re led by a No. 1 5000-meter performance from Dillon Powell (13:30.93), and No. 3 performances from both Luke Julian in the 1500 meter (3:41.84) and Hunter Potrykus in pole vault (5.36mA/17-7). Powell backs up his nation-leading performance with a No. 6 effort in the 10,000 meters (29:02.02c), while teammate Loic Scomparin holds down No. 4 in the 5000 (13:45.65).

The 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado from May 25-27 is rapidly approaching, with just a few meets left on most teams’ schedules as they look to qualify as many athletes as possible.
