2020 NJCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3
NEW ORLEANS – There was significant shakeup in the Week 3 edition of the NJCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Ratings Index, which was released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Last week there was only one change to the top-5, but this week there are two – including the season’s largest increase. While the top-3 remain in the same order as they’ve been since Week 1, Coffeyville (Kan.) CC moved up one spot to No. 4 and Mesa (Ariz.) CC zoomed up seven rungs to No. 5 and its first appearance all year in the top-10.

Still at the top is Iowa Central CC, although the gap to No. 2 is the closest it’s been all year. The Tritons have two national leaders in Courtney Lindsey (60 meters) and Kelvin Bungei (5000).
Barton (Kan.) CC gained some ground in points but remains at No. 2. The Cougars own the top mark in four with three athletes, led by Shakwon Cole, who tops the long jump and triple jump. Also leading the country are Davonte Burnett in the 200 and Philip Lemonious in the 60 hurdles.
No. 3 remains South Plains, which also made up ground in points. The Texans lead the most events (five), with Moitalel Mpoke on top in three of them (400, 600 and 800). Romaine Beckford has the best high jump and school owns the best time in the 4 x 400 relay.
Moving up to No. 4 is Coffeyville (Kan.) CC. The Red Raiders have no national leaders but a pair in the No. 2 position in Will Jones (long jump) and Moustafa Fall (shot put).
Making the biggest move among the leading teams is Mesa (Ariz.) CC, which almost doubled its points from Week 2 in moving from No. 12 to No. 5. The Thunderbirds are led by its only national leader, Makel Hubbard in the heptathlon as Mesa owns the top-5 scores nationally (only three count in the ratings). Hubbard also is No. 2 in the high jump.
Rounding out the top-10 are No. 6 New Mexico JC, No. 7 Cloud County (Kan.) CC, No. 8 Monroe-New Rochelle (N.Y.), No. 9 Hutchinson (Kan.) CC and No. 10 Vincennes (Ind.).
