

2019 NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 6
NEW ORLEANS – Conference Championships Weekend has a way of shaking up the NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings.
This year is no different as there were notable changes throughout the final seasons index that was released on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Remember: The next stop in the postseason are the nine regional championships meets, which will be held across the nation on Friday, November 15.
Great Lakes Region
There were some notable changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Great Lakes Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Most of the changes happened because of the Big Ten Championships, which is where Wisconsin – the new No. 1 team – won its 50th conference title in program history. The Badgers topped new No. 2 team Indiana, new No. 3 squad Michigan and new No. 4 team Purdue in Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday for that historic occasion.
Notre Dame, the ACC runner-up, remained at No. 5 for the second week in a row.
Mid-Atlantic Region
There were wholesale changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Villanova went from No. 4 to No. 1, Georgetown and Temple remained at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, while Penn moved up one spot to No. 4 and Princeton fell all the way to No. 5.
The Wildcats were beneficiaries of their victory this past weekend at the BIG EAST Championships, where they knocked off the Hoyas by a score of 36-42.
Midwest Region
There were a few changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Midwest Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Iowa State and Tulsa remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, after winning their respective conference titles this past weekend. The Cyclones breezed through the Big 12 Championships, while the Hurricane blew the doors off the American Athletic Conference Championships.
Oklahoma State finished runner-up to Iowa State in Waco and sits No. 3, while the Big 12’s third-place team, Kansas, slots in at No. 4.
Bradley continues to make a name for itself as it sits No. 5 going into the regional meet.
Mountain Region
There weren’t too many changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Mountain Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Northern Arizona, BYU and Colorado remained No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, after handling business at their respective conference championships. The Lumberjacks made quick work of the competition in the Big Sky Conference, while the Cougars and Buffaloes rolled to team titles in the West Coast Conference and the Pac-12 Conference.
Utah State jumped one spot from No. 5 to No. 4 after winning its first team title in the Mountain West Conference. The Aggies were led by BYU transfer Dallin Farnsworth’s individual crown.
Colorado State rounds out the top-5 at No. 5.
Northeast Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Northeast Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Iona, Syracuse and Stony Brook remained No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, for the second week in a row following their conference titles this past weekend. The Gaels won the MAAC, while the Orange and Seawolves captured crowns in the ACC and America East, respectively.
Harvard jumped from No. 6 to No. 4 after a strong effort at the Ivy League Championships, while Patriot League champion Army settles in at No. 5.
South Region
There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the South Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, after winning their respective conference titles. The Rebels dominated the proceedings at the SEC Championships, while the Blue Raiders rolled in Conference USA.
Alabama moved up to No. 3 after a runner-up finish at the SEC Championships, while Florida State and Belmont come in at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
South Central Region
There weren’t any changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the South Central Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Big 12 runner-up Texas and SEC third-place team Arkansas remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, while SEC fifth-place team No. 3 Texas A&M, Southland champion No. 4 Lamar and C-USA third-place team No. 5 Rice round out the top-5.
Southeast Region
There were a few notable changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Southeast Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Virginia headlines the bunch for the fourth week in a row after finishing third at the ACC Championships this past weekend. Virginia Tech slots in at No. 2 following a fourth-place finish at the same ACC Championships.
Ohio Valley champion Eastern Kentucky, Southern champion Furman and Wake Forest come in at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, each improving their positions from the previous installment. The Demon Deacons bettered their placement six spots since Week 5.
West Region
There were some notable changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the West Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Stanford remained No. 1 following a third-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships, but Portland is no longer No. 2 as that spot is now occupied by Oregon, the runner-up out of the Pac-12 this past weekend. The Cardinal earned the No. 1 spot over the Ducks based on stronger racing against talented fields throughout the season.
The Pilots, who finished runner-up in the WCC to BYU, dropped two spots to No. 4, right behind No. 3 UCLA, while Washington went from No. 1 in Week 4 to No. 5 in Week 6.
