2020 NJCAA DIII Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Ranking – Week 1

NEW ORLEANS – All roads point to the 2020 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on November 14 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

If the first NJCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Ranking of the season has any indication of what’s to come, then Mineral Area (Mo.) could very well repeat as the team champion in a few months.

Cross Country Polls & Rankings

The Cardinals enter the season as the top-ranked team and return three athletes who finished in the top-10 of last year’s national meet: Donovan Denslow (third), Wyatt Elliott (fourth) and Jacob Arnold (ninth). MAC has already competed twice this season so far and will take to the course again this weekend in Bourbannais, Illinois.

Joliet (Ill.) JC is expected to make a big jump. Last year the Wolves finished seventh at the NJCAA DIII meet, but this year they received the No. 2 ranking in Week 1. Joliet JC recently competed at the Heartland CC Invitational where it finished fourth. National Athlete of the Week Julian Rosenbach led the way in seventh place individually.

Corning (N.Y.) CC checks in at No. 3 to begin the season. The Red Barons have competed twice so far this season, which included a victory back on September 12 at the TC3 Invitational.

Finger Lakes (N.Y.) CC is fourth in Week 1, fresh off a victory this past weekend at the Raider Classic hosted by Fulton-Montgomery (N.Y.) CC. The Lakers put three athletes in the top-15, led by individual champion Hunter Brignall.

St. Charles (Mo.) CC settles in at No. 5 in Week 1 to round out the top-5. The Cougars have been busy this season, competing three times so far. Just this past weekend, SCC finished 10th as a team at the Larry Young Invitational with Ryan Pendergast leading the way.
