Cross Country Polls & Rankings
No. 1 remains clearly College of Southern Idaho, which has been a near-unanimous selection all year. The Golden Eagles, reigning national champions, most recently were impressive at the Lewis & Clark Invitational, taking fourth behind NCAA DI and NAIA programs. CSI had a close group, as all five scores ran within 37 seconds of each other (and all seven within 47 seconds).
Moving up a spot to No. 2 is New Mexico JC, which also earned the only first-place vote not given to Southern Idaho. The T-Birds were the top JUCO program in finishing as runner-up in their own New Mexico JC Invitational II.
Hutchinson (Kan.) CC drops a rung to No. 3. The Blue Dragons lost a nail-biter, 37-38, to No. 5 Cloud County (Kan.) CC at the Ollie Isom Invitational. This is Cloud County’s highest ranking since No. 4 last year. The T-Birds have been national runner-up the last two years.
Making history at No. 4 is Salt Lake (Utah) CC, a first-year program breaking into the top-5 for the first time. The Bruins climbed three places after winning the open division of the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational.
Completing the top-10 are No. 6 Iowa Central CC, No. 7 El Paso (Texas) CC, No. 8 Central Arizona, No. 9 Butler (Kan.) CC and No. 10 Iowa Western CC.
Just over three weeks away is the 2022 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, which are set for Saturday, November 12 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
