Cross Country Polls & Rankings

No. 1 remains College of Southern Idaho. After having their first two meets canceled due to heat and smoke, the defending champions have impressed in their first test, a fourth-place showing at the Idaho State Invitational. Natalya Babcock and Taya Brewer have rotated as the No. 1 runner this year, but their top athlete in last year’s NJCAA Championships was Audrey Camp, who was fifth.

Hutchinson (Kan.) CC continues at No. 2, matching the program’s highest ranking. The Blue Dragons were the highest-finishing – and only – JUCO squad in the Chile Pepper Festival’s top division.

Nos. 3 and 4 are New Mexico JC and El Paso (Texas) CC as the rivals flipped positions from the last poll. Both squads have exceptional No. 1 runners – Damaris Chewon for the T-Birds has been honored as an M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week this year, while the Tejanas’ Faith Nyathi is reigning national champion.

The final place among the top-5 is a tie between Butler (Kan.) CC and Iowa Central CC, both just one point ahead of No. 7 Salt Lake (Utah) CC.

Completing the top-10 are No. 8 Cloud County (Kan.) CC, No. 9 Dodge City (Kan.) CC and No. 10 Central Arizona.

The 2022 NJCAA DI Cross Country Championships will be held at Apalachee Regional Park on November 12.
