2024 NJCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 5
NEW ORLEANS – New Mexico JC remains No. 1 but three teams follow as close as they’ve been all year in the Week 5 (pre-championships) edition of the NJCAA Women’s Indoor National Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI), as released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
National TFRI is presented by AthleticNET. Only marks from the current season are used in this objective ranking.
With almost all regular season action completed, attention now shifts to the 2024 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for March 1-2 at the Alachua County Events Center in Gainesville, Florida.

All TFRI Reports
No. 1 New Mexico JC‘s lead is 8.22 ratings points – very close in TFRI terms. The next three programs have shuffled in order all season long, but the 1-4 gap is close enough at 38.54 ratings points that practically any order wouldn’t be surprising.
The T-Birds are well stocked in their bid to repeat as NJCAA Indoor champions, owning 18 top-10 marks and four national leaders: Lacarthea Cooper in the 200 (23.97) and 400 (54.15), Tania Da Silva in the weight throw (19.23m/63-1¼) and the Cooper-anchored 4×400 relay team (3:40.05).
Rising to No. 2 for the first time since Week 1 is Barton (Kan.) CC. Fourth in last year’s NJCAA Indoor Championships, the Cougars have 17 top-10 marks including three national leaders in Sanae Hassnaoui in the mile (4:47.99), Chloe Perryman in the long jump (6.18m/20-3½) and Treneese Hamilton in the shot put (16.06m/52-8¼).
Iowa Western CC follows at No. 3, dropping a spot despite racking up its highest point total of the year. The Reivers – fifth last year after winning the previous two crowns – have 19 top-10 marks led by its lone national leader, Mercy Honesty in the triple jump (12.44m/40-9¾).
Last year’s runner-up, Cloud County (Kan.) CC is No. 4, also achieving its best score of the year. These T-Birds have the most top-10 marks – 21 – led a pair of national leaders: N Vanee Anchike in the 1000 (2:55.62) and the Anchike-anchored DMR team (12:01.47).
No. 5 is South Plains (Texas), also ringing up its highest total this year. The Texans, third in last year’s meet, have 12 top-10 marks led by current M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week Rushana Dwyer, who tops the 600 (1:34.30).
Completing the top-10 teams in the national TFRI are No. 6 Central Arizona, No. 7 Mesa (Ariz.) CC, No. 8 Salt Lake (Utah) CC, No. 9 College of Southern Idaho and No. 10 Butler (Kan.) CC. The No. 10 Grizzlies jump up seven places in this week’s ratings.
