

2024 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Postseason Awards
NEW ORLEANS — Postseason awards for the 2024 NJCAA Division I Cross Country season were handed out on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the 2024 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, which were held this past weekend at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
Isaac Wood was named the 2024 NJCAA DI Women’s Cross Country National Coach of the Year. Wood coached Salt Lake (Utah) CC to the team title at the 2024 NJCAA DI Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Led by individual fifth-place finisher Angelina Lione, the Bruins scored 55 points to win by 50 points with all five scorers finishing in the top-19. Earlier this season, Salt Lake also won the team title at The Master’s (Calif.) Invitational. Isaac Wood was named the 2024 NJCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Coach of the Year. Wood coached Salt Lake (Utah) CC to the team title at the 2024 NJCAA DI Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Led by individual champion JaQuavious Harris, the Bruins scored 52 points to win by 33 points with all five scorers finishing in the top-22. Earlier this season, Salt Lake also won team titles at the Utah Open and Cal State San Marcos Cougar Challenge. Elizabeth Ilanda was named the 2024 NJCAA DI Women’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Year. Ilanda, who hails from Tanzania, captured the individual title at the 2024 NJCAA DI Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The El Paso (Texas) CC star cross the finish line in 17:08.0, seven seconds ahead of the runner-up. Ilanda won three of the five meets in which he competed this season, never losing to another athlete from a two-year program. Her achievements this fall included setting a course record of 17:16.3 at Harry McAdams Park in Hobbs, New Mexico. JaQuavious Harris was named the 2024 NJCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Year. Harris, who hails from Cheraw, South Carolina, captured the individual title at the 2024 NJCAA DI Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The Salt Lake (Utah) CC star crossed the finish line in 23:30.7, more than two seconds faster than the runner-up in becoming the first repeat winner since 2016. Harris won three of the four meets in which he competed this season, never losing to another athlete from a two-year program. He also won this award last year.National Women's Coach of the Year
