Cross Country Polls & Rankings
No. 1 Lansing (Mich.) CC provided the only repeat showing among the top-14 team as they aim for a third-straight national title. The Stars – who return four of their top-5 – have been led by freshman Nate Carmody in both of their meets thus far. Last week’s M-F National Athlete of the Week has led the way in a pair of meets loaded with four-year programs – the Jeff Drenth Memorial and Michigan State Auto Owners Spartan Invitational, the latter also serving as the Big Ten Preview.
Rising up four positions – and gaining a pair of first-place votes – is Paradise Valley (Ariz.) CC. The Pumas impressed as the top NJCAA program at the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Challenge, led by current M-F National Athlete of the Week Brady Eagar, who led all JUCO racers.
Also moving up four places is Wallace State-Hanceville (Ala.) CC to No. 3. The Lions were the top JUCO team at the North Alabama Invitational with Tyler Anthony also earning top JUCO individual honors.
Mesa (Ariz.) CC drops two places to No. 4. The Thunderbirds finished just behind rival Paradise Valley at the Cougar Challenge, with Cal Schempf earning team honors for the second meet in a row.
Southeastern (Iowa) CC jumps three spots to a program-high No. 5. The Blackhawks were the top JUCO squad at the Augustana Twilight Meet with Parker Quinlan leading the way.
Rounding out the top-10 teams are No. 6 Daytona State (Fla.), No. 7 Des Moines Area (Iowa) CC, No. 8 Heartland (Ill.) CC, No. 9 Macomb (Mich.) CC and No. 10 Cowley (Kan.).
