Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Nothing changed among the top-five teams as No. 1 MIT, No. 2 Williams, No. 3 UChicago, No. 4 NYU and No. 5 Johns Hopkins remained in their respective spots since the preseason. The defending national champion Engineers have yet to truly open their season – and will at the Wesleyan Cardinal Invitational this weekend – but the Ephs, the Maroons, the Violets, and the Blue Jays all competed in the first few weeks of the new campaign.
The most notable result probably belongs to UChicago, which ran roughshod over the competition at the Lewis Early Bird two weeks ago, putting six runners in the overall top seven. Not to be outdone, Williams looked strong in victory at both the Little Three Championship and the Ron Stonitsch Invitational, while NYU and Johns Hopkins hung tough in recent meets against primarily NCAA DI competition.
Carnegie Mellon shook up the top ten the most, jumping two spots from No. 9 to No. 7. The Tartans most recently shined at the RMU Colonial Cross Country Invitational, where they took the team title over NCAA DII programs Walsh and Davis and Elkins, ranked No. 14 and receiving votes in their most recent National Coaches’ Poll, respectively.
Here are the rest of the top-ten teams alongside Carnegie Mellon: No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, No. 8 Washington (Mo.), No. 9 Amherst, and No. 10 UW-La Crosse.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 22, because that’s when the 2025 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will be held at the Roger Millikin Cross Country Course in Spartansburg, South Carolina.
