2018 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Rankings – Week 1
NEW ORLEANS – There are familiar faces atop the first NAIA Men’s and Women’s National Team Computer Rankings of the 2018 season that were released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Indiana Tech is home to the top-ranked men’s and women’s programs for the 25th consecutive week. Since the NAIA National Team Computer Rankings debuted in 2014, the Warriors have been No. 1 in each index and combined to win four national titles in that span.

The 2018 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held March 1-3 in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Men’s Story
Indiana Tech holds a 234.35-point advantage over No. 2 Doane (Neb.). The Warriors have incredible depth with 11 athletes or relays ranked in the top-3 of their respective events, including three No. 1s – Kejavon Moore (60), Luke Runyan (1000) and Justin McKenzie (pole vault).
The Tigers have three athletes ranked in the top-5 of their respective events, led by junior Zach Brittain, who is No. 1 in the shot put. Brittain already posted a mark of 18.15m (59-6¾) this season and is also ranked No. 6 in the weight throw.
Central Christian (Kan.) is a surprise at No. 3 after not being ranked higher than 52nd in any other index since 2015. The Tigers feature the top-ranked 4×400 relay in the nation and junior Qawtavis Johnson, who is ranked in the top-3 in both the 60 and 200.
Hastings (Neb.) comes in at No. 4, followed by MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) at No. 5.
Women’s Story
Indiana Tech owns a sizeable lead just like the men. The Warriors sit 206.90 points ahead of No. 2 Friends (Kan.). Indiana Tech has a wealth of talent in all events areas and three top-ranked athletes: Tia Holmes (60 and long jump), Leondra Correia (60 hurdles) and Cheyenne White (triple jump). Correia and Holmes are just two of the eight Warriors ranked in the top-10 of the 60 hurdles and long jump combined.
The second-ranked Falcons bring a good bit of depth into 2018, especially in the field and combined events. Friends (Kan.) is going to be led by senior Chelsea Baker (No. 1 in the pentathlon and high jump, No. 2 in the 60 hurdles) and junior Shelby Hundley (top-10 in the 400, 600 and 800).
Hastings (Neb.) will look to Sara Olsen for major points in 2018 as she is billed No. 1 in the weight throw. Olsen launched the implement 18.53m (60-9½) back on January 6 to take over the top spot in the rankings. If not Olsen, Kelbie Lyon is a solid bet in that same event and the shot put (Eboni Nash is ranked in the top-5 of the shot put, too).
Doane (Neb.) and Siena Heights (Mich.) round out the top-5 of the women’s index.
