2018 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Rankings – Week 5
NEW ORLEANS – If we said the 2018 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships are less than three weeks from now, would you believe us?
Take one look at the calendar and then back here, because the newest NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Team Rankings were released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
The top-4 teams in each index remained the same, while a litany of changes were peppered throughout the rest of the top-25s.

Remember: The 2018 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held March 1-3 in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Men’s Story
Indiana Tech and Wayland Baptist (Texas) are still clear-cut favorites in the race for the men’s team title that will be handed out on March 3. The Warriors and the Pioneers are the only two men’s teams with more than 200 points in the men’s index.
It should be no surprise as to why Indiana Tech and Wayland Baptist (Texas) are where they are because they have the most and second-most performances ranked in the top-10 of the NAIA Descending Order List at 17 and 13, respectively.
Doane (Neb.) and Cornerstone (Mich.) come in at No. 3 and No. 4 again, while Hastings (Neb.) rounds out the top-5 – one week after being ranked No. 6. The Broncos jumped over Central Christian (Kan.) and have the fourth most top-3 performances in the nation on the Descending Order List with three.
The biggest gainer in the top-10 was Westmont (Calif.), which went from No. 18 to No. 7. The Warriors received top-6 marks this past weekend from Pieter Top in the 200 (sixth), Michael Oldach in the mile (fourth) and Seth Wilmoth in the pole vault (fifth).
Women’s Story
Indiana Tech might want to watch its back as Wayland Baptist (Texas) is gaining steam in the women’s rankings as the season draws to a close.
The Pioneers gained 37.1 points on the Warriors from Week 4 to Week 5. Wayland Baptist (Texas) saw five athletes notch top-5 performances this past weekend: Devin Johnson in the 60 (first), Ja’Ianna Williams in the 600 (second), Silvia Sosa in the 1000 (second), Telecia Briscoe in the 60 hurdles (fourth) and Tiona Owens in the triple jump (fourth).
Southern-New Orleans and Friends (Kan.) are third and fourth again, respectively, while Hastings (Neb.) is now ranked fifth. The Broncos were paced by Abigail Collingham, who got a top-5 mark in the pole vault this past weekend.
St. Francis (Ill.) continued its climb as it joined the top-10 this week. The Fighting Saints moved up five spots from No. 15 to No. 10 after its 4×400 relay notched a time of 3:59.46, the third best time in the nation this season.
