2023 NCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 4
NEW ORLEANS – Sometimes it be like that.
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll for the 2023 season, as released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Only five of the top-35 teams held their spots between Week 3 and Week 4, which shows just how wild this season has been so far.

Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Nothing changed at the top, as UChicago and Wartburg are still No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The unanimous Maroons most recently competed at the Joe Piane Invitational against a host of NCAA DI programs and finished a strong third, just four points out of second. In fact, UChicago was only one of three programs in the 19-deep field that put multiple athletes in the top-15. The Knights rolled to victory at the Dan Hutson Invitational, scoring 31 points (1-2-5-9-14).
SUNY Geneseo and NYU made some noise in the top-10. The Knights charged three spots from No. 6 to No. 3 by virtue of a courageous effort in the Women’s College Gold 6k at the Paul Short Run, where they finished 22nd as a team. The Violets made quick work of the Women’s College Brown 6k at the same meet, winning by nearly 100 points over NCAA DI Duquesne. This is the highest ranking in program history for NYU, topping its previous best of seventh in 2013.
Elsewhere in the top-35, seven programs climbed multiple spots since Week 3, namely Calvin (up 12 to No. 16), Washington & Lee (up six to No. 21) and Centre (up nine to No. 22). Both the Knights and the Generals are boosted by their efforts at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational two weeks ago, while the Colonels rallied to an 11th-place finish at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic behind a sterling individual effort by star Meghan Owens (third overall).
There will be 11 top-35 teams squaring off at the DIII Pre-Nationals this weekend: No. 4 MIT, No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, No. 11 Williams, No. 13 Amherst, No. 14 George Fox, No. 19 Vassar, No. 22 Washington & Lee, No. 26 John Carroll, No. 27 Pomona-Pitzer, No. 29 Hope and No. 33 Tufts.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 18, because that’s when the 2023 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
