

2023 NCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 7
NEW ORLEANS – Welcome to the postseason!
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2023 season, as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams’ strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. Teams with provisional status within the region may be ranked.
Regional Championships Saturday is set for November 11.
East Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 MIT
Next in Line: No. 2 WPI
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 Bates, No. 4 Tufts, No. 5 Colby
Note: There were no changes to the top-5 teams.
Great Lakes Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 Hope
Next in Line: No. 2 Calvin
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 John Carroll, No. 4 Wittenberg, No. 5 DePauw
Note: Hope and Calvin tied for the MIAA title this past weekend with 33 points and by virtue of NCAA tiebreaking procedures, Hope gets the win thanks to owning a 3-2 head-to-head edge (It should be noted that the MIAA named co-champions). Both John Carroll (OAC) and Wittenberg (NCAC) captured team titles at their respective conference meets.
Metro Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 TCNJ
Next in Line: No. 2 Stockton
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 Widener, No. 4 Rowan, No. 5 Moravian
Note: What happened at the NJAC Championships altered the rankings in Week 7. TCNJ captured the team title, leaving it at No. 1, but Stockton topped Rowan by nine points for the runner-up spot, giving it the leg up in the rankings.Widener and Moravian remained unchanged.
Mid-Atlantic Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 Johns Hopkins
Next in Line: No. 2 Carnegie Mellon
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 Misericordia, No. 4 Dickinson, No. 5 Grove City
Note: Grove City soared into the top-5 after falling out of the rankings in Week 1. The Wolverines topped the podium at the PAC Championships thanks to seven runners in the top-25. Grove City held off a hard-charging Allegheny (Pa.) by six points.
Mideast Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 Williams
Next in Line: No. 2 Amherst
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 Vassar, No. 4 Middlebury, No. 5 Coast Guard
Note: What happened at the NESCAC Championships shaped the rankings this week. Williams won the team title, while Amherst was second and Middlebury finished third. Vassar took top honors at the Liberty League Championships with a 49-second spread between its scorers.
Midwest Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 UChicago
Next in Line: No. 2 Wartburg
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 Washington (Mo.), No. 4 Central (Iowa), No. 5 Simpson
Note: There were no changes to the top-5 teams.
Niagara Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 NYU
Next in Line: No. 2 SUNY Geneseo
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 RIT, No. 4 Ithaca, No. 5 SUNY Oneonta
Notes: RIT leapfrogged both Ithaca and SUNY Oneonta between Week 6 and Week 7. The Tigers earned a head-to-head victory over the Bombers at the Liberty League Championships.
North Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 Carleton
Next in Line: No. 2 UW-La Crosse
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 UW-Eau Claire, No. 4 St. Olaf, No. 5 Saint Benedict
Note: Saint Benedict is back in the top-5 after a third-place finish at the MIAC Championships.
South Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 Lynchburg
Next in Line: No. 2 Emory
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 Washington & Lee, No. 4 Christopher Newport, No. 5 Catholic
Note: Christopher Newport shook up the rankings thanks to its runner-up finish at the C2C Championships. The Captains put four scoring athletes in the top-15 in Sunnyvale, California.
West Region
Projected AQ: No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Next in Line: No. 2 Colorado College
Also in the Hunt: No. 3 George Fox, No. 4 UC Santa Cruz, No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer.
