Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Welcome to the top, UW-La Crosse. The WIAC champion Eagles soared past former No. 1 North Central (Ill.) and landed their first No. 1 ranking in program history. UW-La Crosse ran roughshod over a stacked field at the WIAC Championships behind all five scoring athletes in the top-10 and two others in the top-15. In fact, the Eagles’ 19-point victory over No. 4 UW-Whitewater was punctuated by a 2-3-4 finish led by runner-up Ethan Gregg.
The rest of the top-5 held steady behind UW-La Crosse and the CCIW champion Cardinals with NEWMAC champion MIT at No. 3, UW-Whitewater at No. 4 and UAA champion Carnegie Mellon at No. 5. American Rivers champion Wartburg and SCIAC champion Pomona-Pitzer improved their billing to No. 6 and No. 7 after their respective victories.
Further down, SUNYAC champion SUNY Geneseo improved four spots from No. 18 to No. 14, UAA runner-up Washington (Mo.) went from No. 17 to No. 15 and NESCAC runner-up Amherst lumbered ten spots from No. 27 to No. 17. When you add the Knights, the Bears and the Mammoths to the rest of the top-35, 16 programs moved multiple spots in either direction.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 18, because that’s when the 2023 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Dickinson College in Newville, Pennsylvania.
