Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Welcome to the top, NYU! The Violets are the unanimous favorite to win the national title come November 18 in Newville, Pennsylvania. NYU earned its perch atop the NCAA DIII mountaintop thanks to an upset victory over previous No. 1 UChicago at the UAA Championships. M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week Grace Richardson captured the individual title in Hunting Valley, Ohio, while three of her teammates followed in the top-10. That, coupled with another runner in the top-15, sent the Violets to a 34-46 triumph over the Maroons.
UChicago is now ranked No. 2 ahead of No. 3 Carleton and No. 4 SUNY Geneseo. The Minnesota-based Knights charged to the front of the leaderboard at the MIAC Championships, while the New York-based Knights seized the team title at the SUNYAC Championships.
Six conference champions follow behind those top-4 teams: American Rivers champion Wartburg at No. 5, SCIAC champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at No. 6, ODAC champion Lynchburg and NEWMAC champion MIT tied at No. 7, Centennial Conference champion Johns Hopkins at No. 9 and NESCAC champion Williams at No. 10.
Further down, five programs improved multiple spots: Emory went from No. 22 to No. 20; Middlebury went from No. 25 to No. 23; John Carroll went from No. 27 to No. 24; UC Santa Cruz went from No. 30 to No. 27, and DePauw went from No. 32 to No. 29.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 18, because that’s when the 2023 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Dickinson College in Newville, Pennsylvania.
