NEW ORLEANS — All-America honors for the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country season were announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Athletes from member institutions earned All-America recognition by finishing among the top-40 athletes in their gender’s respective races this past weekend at the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Joplin, Missouri.
Team titles went to Wingate’s men and Grand Valley State’s women. It was the Bulldogs’ first-ever title, while the lakers won its first women’s crown in 2018 and seventh overall.
To no one’s surprise, Wingate earned the most All-America awards with five led by Hamza Chahid (third), who was joined by Soheil Boufrizi (10th), Ricardo Barbosa (24th), Cas Kopmels (26th) and Titouan Le Grix (29th).
Grand Valley State and runner-up Adams State tie for the most women’s All-America plaudits with five. The Lakers were led by Natalie Graber (third), who was joined by Klaudia O’Malley (eighth), Anastasia Tucker (14th), Lauren Kiley (15th) and Allie Arnsman (33rd). The Grizzlies were paced by Brianna Robles (fourth), who was joined by Tristian Spence (16th), Ava O’Connor (17th), Morgan Hykes (29th) and Emily Schoelkopfe (40th).
Four other programs had four All-America performances this past weekend at Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course: runner-up Colorado School of Mines, third-place East Central (Okla.) and fourth-place West Texas A&M on the men’s side, and Colorado School of Mines on the women’s side.
Combining men’s and women’s programs, Colorado School of Mines captured a total of eight All-America honors.
