The Buffs, who haven’t competed since October 4, hauled in 16 of 21 possible first-place votes from the electorate. Just a few weeks back, Bryn Woodall led Milligan (Tenn.) to a seventh-place finish at the ECU Pirate Cross Country Classic. The Buffs were the top finishing NAIA program among a host of NCAA DI programs, headlined by meet winner William & Mary.
The Master’s (Calif.) held steady at No. 2 with one first-place vote, while College of Idaho leapfrogged Saint Mary (Kan.) into the No. 3 position. The Coyotes earned four first-place votes thanks to their most recent triumph at the Charles Bowles XC Invitational, where they beat several NCAA DI programs, as well as NAIA No. 10 Eastern Oregon, among others.
Oklahoma City didn’t budge from No. 5, nor did three of the other five teams in the top-10. Spring Arbor (Mich.) and Indiana Wesleyan swapped spots at No. 6 and No. 7, but Taylor (Ind.), Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and Eastern Oregon are situated at No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
Mark your calendars for Friday, November 22, because that’s when the 2024 NAIA Cross Country Championships will be held at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri.
