2024 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Postseason Awards
NEW ORLEANS — Postseason awards for the 2024 NJCAA Division III Cross Country season were handed out on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the 2024 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, which were held this past weekend at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
Carmen Solis was named the 2024 NJCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Year. Solis, who hails from Aurora, Illinois, captured the individual title at the 2024 NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The College of DuPage (Ill.) star crossed the finish line in 19:01.4, nearly 27 seconds faster than the runner-up. It was the first victory of the year and a lifetime 5k best for Solis, who avenged being runner-up in the Region 4 Championships. Nathan Ciarlette was named the 2024 NJCAA DIII Men’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Year. Ciarlette, who hails from Joliet, Illinois, captured the individual title at the 2024 NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The Joliet (Ill.) JC star crossed the finish line in 25:55.3, nearly five seconds faster than the runner-up. It was the first victory of the year and a lifetime 8k best for Ciarlette, who avenged being runner-up in the Region 4 Championships. Steven Davis was named the 2024 NJCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country National Coach of the Year. Davis coached Mineral Area (Mo.) to the team title at the 2024 NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Led by individual third-place finisher Alyson Skiles, the Cardinals scored 40 points as all five scorers were in the top-17. Mineral Area also won the Region 16 team title. Mallory Dominguez was named the 2024 NJCAA DIII Men’s Cross Country National Coach of the Year. Dominguez coached College of DuPage (Ill.) to the team title at the 2024 NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Led by individual runner-up Kevin Diederich, the Chaps scored 44 points with three other finishers in the top-9.
