No. 1 Doane (Neb.), No. 2 Southeastern (Fla.), No. 3 Milligan (Tenn.) and No. 4 Indiana Tech held steady in this week’s National TFRI.
The Tigers continued to add to their plethora of top-10 nationally ranked. Jacob Heitkamp and Levi Sudbeck each turned in national leading performances in their respective events. Heitkamp cleared 2.15m (7-½) in the high jump and Sudbeck scored 6668 points in his first decathlon of the season. Heitkamp also turned in the fifth-ranked throw in the javelin (58.45m/191-9).
No. 5 Madonna (Mich.) gained eight spots since it’s No. 13 billing in Week 3. Tony Floyd turned in a strong performance in the 10,000 of 30:06.89 at the Olivet Nazarene Tiger Open to take over the national lead. That also pairs well with his No. 5 ranking in the 5000 with a time of 14:35.26.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 4: No. 6 Dordt (Iowa), No. 7 Westmont (Calif.), No. 8 Concordia (Neb.), No. 9 Saint Mary (Kan.) and No. 10 Dickinson State (N.D.). The Spires were the biggest movers in the National TFRI with a 34 spot improvement after turning in several top-10 efforts, including Luke Skinner’s 3:53.00 in the 1500 for the No. 2 performance this season. The Bluehawks jumped 11 spots following Dane Allen’s season bests in the long jump (No. 2, 7.56mw/24-9¾) and the triple jump (No. 7, 14.70mw/48-2¾).
