Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Nothing changed at the top: North Central (Ill.) and Pomona-Pitzer held steady at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The Cardinals hauled in six of ten possible first-place votes from the electorate, while the Sagehens collected the other four. Both North Central (Ill.) and Pomona-Pitzer opened up the season with resounding victories: the Cardinals at both the John Kurtt Invitational and NCC XC Invitational; the Sagehens at the P-P/Oxy/ULV XC Triangular.
The rest of the top-5 saw some movement as defending champion MIT and UW-La Crosse improved to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, as SUNY Geneseo dropped two places to No. 5.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 1: No. 6 UW-Whitewater, No. 7 Wartburg, No. 8 Carnegie Mellon, No. 9 Williams and No. 10 Johns Hopkins. Not too far outside the top-10 is Mount Union, which is the Biggest Mover of the Week after jumping ten spots from No. 24 to No. 14 following a strong, fifth-place showing at the Tommy Evans Cross Country Invitational.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 18, because that’s when the 2023 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
