Cross Country Polls & Rankings
The top-4 programs held their spots since Week 5: North Central (Ill.) is still unanimously No. 1; UW-La Crosse is a clear No. 2; MIT and UW-Whitewater and separated by just two points at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Both the Cardinals and the Eagles captured team titles this past weekend with the former taking top honors at the loaded Augustana Interregional Invitational and the latter running roughshod at its own Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational. The Warhawks were second behind North Central (Ill.) at the Augustana Interregional, seven points ahead of No. 7 Wartburg, 90-97.
Tufts jumped 13 spots from No. 27 to No. 14 after a dynamic effort at the Connecticut College Invitational. The Jumbos finished a game runner-up to St. Olaf in Waterford, Connecticut, and put two runners in the top-10 – Ivan Appleton (fourth) and Walter Wagude (ninth). Despite that win, the Oles dropped one spot to No. 11, while Lynchburg is now ranked at No. 10.
Two other programs climbed seven or more spots between Week 5 and Week 6: Washington (Mo.) went from No. 25 to No. 17 after a fourth-place finish at the Augustana Interregional; Central (Iowa) went from No. 26 to No. 19 after a third-place finish in Connecticut.
Four new programs joined the National Coaches’ Poll: No. 23 Carleton, No. 25 Colorado College, No. 31 UW-Stout and No. 35 SUNY Brockport.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 18, because that’s when the 2023 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Dickinson College in Newville, Pennsylvania.
