

2022 NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country All-Academic Athletes
NEW ORLEANS – The Men’s Scholar Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Athletes for the 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Sam Aquaviva of MIT was named the Men’s Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country season. Aquaviva, who hails from Newburyport, Massachusetts, and majors in Computation and Cognition, finished third at the 2022 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in East Lansing, Michigan. His low stick helped MIT win the team title by 47 points. This is the first time in program history that an athlete from MIT has been named Men’s Scholar Athlete of the Year during the cross country season.
Overall, there were 320 men from 119 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2022 season.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
