

2023 NCAA DIII Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 2
NEW ORLEANS – The season is off to a hot start.
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA DIII Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index, as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). No marks from previous seasons have been used, meaning that this objective list is compiled solely of current qualifying marks from the 2023 indoor track & field season.

UW-La Crosse leapfrogged Washington (Mo.) into the No. 1 spot following a strong weekend (The Bears are now ranked No. 2). The top-ranked Eagles added or improved six national top-10 marks this past weekend, including a pair from Sky Digman in the throws: Digman is second nationally in both the shot put (14.55m/47-9) and weight throw (18.36m/60-3). WashU notched four new or improved marks this past weekend, namely three top-10 efforts in the 800 meters: Aoife Dunne leads the way with her second-ranked billing at 2:11.62.
Johns Hopkins cemented its third-ranked standing thanks to Victoria Kadiri’s efforts this past weekend. Kadiri improved her national lead in the long jump to 5.89m (19-4) and moved to No. 2 on the Descending Order List in the pentathlon at 3491 points. The Blue Jays also soared to No. 7 in the 4×400 relay with their 3:55.09 effort anchored by Lauren Phillips, who is among the national leaders in both the 60 meters (No. 4, 7.68) and 400 meters (No. 9, 57.21).
UChicago swapped spots with Loras, as the former is No. 4 and the latter is now No. 5. The Maroons were buoyed by the performances of Maddie Kelly and Evelyn Battleson-Gunkel this past weekend, as the duo cracked the top-5 nationally in the mile (Kelly is now ranked first at 4:53.94; Battleson-Gunkel took over the fifth spot at 4:56.93). Marion Edwards helped the Duhawks cause with top-5 sprints in both the 60 (No. 4, 7.68) and 200 (No. 4, 24.92).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 2: No. 6 Williams, No. 7 MIT, No. 8 Mount Union, No. 9 Gustavus Adolphus and No. 10 North Central (Ill.).
Mark your calendars for March 10-11, because that’s when the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.
