

2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Postseason Awards
NEW ORLEANS — Postseason awards for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), following the conclusion of the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were held this past weekend in Troy, New York.

Noah Mack was named the National Men’s Track Athlete of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Mack, who hails from Elgin, Illinois, scored 23.75 points in track events at the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He completed the 100-200 sweep, ran the second leg of the winning 4×100 relay and anchored the fifth-place 4×400 relay. During the regular season, Mack was ranked first nationally in both the 100 and 200 with marks of 10.69 and a wind-aided 21.39, respectively. Karizma Brathwaite was named the National Women’s Track Athlete of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Brathwaite, a freshman from Syracuse, New York, was the only female athlete to win multiple individual track titles at the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She captured both the 100 and 200-meter crowns with marks of 12.24 and 25.19, respectively. Brathwaite entered the NJCAA meet as the national leader in both the 100 and 200 and was ranked in the top-5 of the 400. Keenan Cannon was named the National Men’s Field Athlete of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Cannon scored 22 points in field events at the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships thanks to a victory in the long jump and third-place efforts in both the high jump and triple jump. He PR’d in both the long jump and the high jump at the NJCAA Championships in 7.18m (23-6¾) and 1.88m (6-2), respectively. Na’shae Early was named the National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Early, who hails from Baltimore, Maryland, scored 27 points in field events at the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She finished runner-up in both the discus and javelin, placed third in the hammer and was fourth in the shot put. Early competed in each of those four events at the same meet six times in 2023. She ended the regular season as the national leader in the discus at 38.80m (127-3). Robert Cervenka was named the National Men’s Coach of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Cervenka, in his seventh year as head coach and 11th overall at College of DuPage (Ill.), led the Chaparrals to a third-straight team title at the 2023 NJCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. DuPage won seven events and tallied 144.5 points to win the meet by 14 points. Jim Macnider of Harper (Ill.) was named the National Women’s Coach of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Macnider, in his fifth year as head coach and his 12th year overall at Harper (Ill.), led the Hawks to their first team title since 2011 at the 2023 NJCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hawks, ranked No. 1 the last five weeks of the year, won seven events and racked up 138.5 points to win by 42.5 points. Kenny Brown was named the National Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Brown, in his first year as assistant coach of sprints and jumps at College of DuPage (Ill.), guided Noah Mack to a 100/200 double at the 2023 NJCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Mack also ran a leg on the winning 4×100 relay. Claudia Davila was named the National Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Davila, in her first year as assistant coach at Joliet (Ill.) JC, assisted the Wolves to a third-place finish at the 2023 NJCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It was Joliet’s first year with a women’s program, and all 10 athletes who competed scored at the national championships. National Men's Track Athlete of the Year
