There was a changing of the guard at the top of the National TFRI between Week 7 and Week 8: Loras leapfrogged UW-La Crosse into the No. 1 spot (The Eagles are now ranked No. 2). The Duhawks made their move thanks to adding or improving three national top-10 marks this past weekend at the American Rivers Conference Championships, including two from Alyssa Pfadenhauer at No. 2 and No. 3 in the 200 and 400, respectively. UW-La Crosse saw Emma Lawrence improve her national lead in the 400-meter hurdles to 59.68 and tote the baton third on the now sixth-ranked 4×100 relay team (Loras sits No. 2 on that seasonal relay chart).
Washington (Mo.) swapped spots with Johns Hopkins. The now third-ranked Bears received a plethora of top marks, namely those in the relays where their 4×100 and 4×400 squads took over their respective national leads. WashU has national top-10 efforts in seven different events, ranging from the 100 meters (Lauren Gay) to the pole vault (Yasmin Ruff).
SUNY Geneseo held steady at No. 5 for yet another week. The Knights didn’t add or improve any national top-10 marks this past weekend and hope to make some noise at NCAAs.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 8: No. 6 Wartburg (up two spots), No. 7 Dubuque (up eight spots), No. 8 UW-Eau Claire (up eight spots), No. 9 WPI (down three spots) and No. 10 Trine (down one spot). Alison Beeman helped the Spartans charge up the rankings with her No. 1 billing in the 200 meters, while Catie Fobbe and Kayla Behnke gave the Blugolds a pair of national top-5 efforts in the shot put and discus throw, respectively.
Mark your calendars for May 26-28, because that’s when the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio!
