2022 NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 2
NEW ORLEANS – Do you feel that?
The winds of change are starting to blow.
Here is the newest NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll, as released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Remember that this poll is conducted by counting votes from 11 member coaches: one from each of the division’s nine regions (who also do the Regional Rankings each week), as well as two members from the NCAA Cross Country Executive Committee.

Cross Country Polls & Rankings
The top-10 teams from Week 1 remained in the top-10 in Week 2, albeit in a slightly different order: Northern Arizona headlines the index once again with seven first-place votes, followed by No. 2 Oklahoma State and No. 3 Stanford, which both hauled in two first-place votes. No. 4 BYU and No. 5 Colorado round out the top-5, while No. 6 Tulsa, No. 7 Wisconsin (down one spot), No. 8 Washington, and co-No. 9s Iowa State and Wake Forest complete the top-10.
North Carolina made the biggest jump into the top-15 in Week 2, as it climbed four spots from No. 17 to No. 13 following a winning effort at the Coaching Tree Invitational. The Tar Heels held off a strong charge from NAU and now-No. 17 Georgetown (up six spots) in Bloomington, Indiana. North Carolina amassed 53 points, five fewer than the Hoyas and seven fewer than the Lumberjacks. The Tar Heels put three runners in the top-10, led by Will Coogan in fifth place.
Montana State moved closer to the top-20 with its two-spot improvement from No. 24 to No. 22. The Bobcats made quick work of the MSU Cross Country Classic this past weekend, as they swept the top-7 spots with Duncan Hamilton and Ben Perrin leading the way, just 0.2 seconds from each other (Hamilton was first in 24:30.8; Perrin was second in 24:31.0).
We should see a lot of movement next week, as the first major weekend of the season is upon us. Hordes of ranked teams will converge on both the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minnesota.
