Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Up, up, up they go should be the lyrics to this week’s rankings. While No. 1 Grand Valley State, No. 2 Adams State, and No. 3 Colorado School of Mines remained idle, the rest of the top-ten saw new owners. Western Colorado set the stage as the Mountaineers marched to the No. 4 slot. Lee (Tenn.) hit its highest note since 2021 with the Flames moving into the No. 5 position.
UC-Colorado Springs danced its way to No. 6 while CSU-Pueblo boogied on into the No. 7 spot. No. 8 Lewis put on a performance to remember at its home course, finishing third in an audition that featured No. 9 Winona State, No. 13 Colorado Christian, and No. 16 Biola (Calif.). Led by Hannah Smrcka, the Flyers made like the wind and put all seven women in the top 55.
No. 15 Western Washington couldn’t quite match those marks, but still found success at the same scene, climbing 12 keys. Paced by low stick Ashley Reeck, the rest of the Vikings ran as a pack and finished 42, 45, 46, 47. No. 17 Tampa made its voice heard at the UAH Charger Invitational, snatching victory from No. 18 Cedarville by 11 points. The Spartans posted a 31 second spread after leading from the gun.
No. 13 Wingate, No. 21 Pittsburg State, No. 23 Dallas Baptist, and No. 28 Catawba also improved their billing in Week 1.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 18th, as the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships will take place at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri!
